The myth of Hades and Persephone is all about you(or the human race) and the way we treat nature. Persephone is the daughter of Demeter, the Goddess of nature. In the myths they both symbolize nature, young and old. Other myths symbolize this with maiden, mother and crone. Nature is always represented by the female, being old and young represents cycles of all nature. People saying this myth is about love and abduction are way off. The Leprechaun was a little tough to pinpoint. First I thought that, like so many other myths, it had to do with the mind. As you will see, the Leprechaun has more with preserving history of this character than anything else. I started with the myths and legends in Ireland. First thing I come across is the leprechaun has something to do with the Faery people of the Tuatha De Danann. If you have read my previous work, you know this is right in my wheelhouse. I won’t go into depth here about the Tuatha De Danann, but if you don’t know much about these matriarchal people from ancient Ireland, your are definitely missing out on great history. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

This movie is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Abrams has done a phenomenal job of keeping what Star Wars is all about. We begin in with Poe meeting a village elder to try to obtain a map to Luke Skywalker. Maps in myths are exactly what they mean, information to your destination. The destination in this movie is Luke Skywalker. Luke represents what Yoda did in the previous movies, enlightenment. That is why they are Jedi, they are enlightened magical beings. The way of the Jedi is the way of the Hermetic. Continue reading “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”

The Minotaur is from greek mythology and it is a creature with the head of a bull and body of a man. It lived in the center of the Labyrinth, which has an elaborate maze like construction. The Labyrinth represented knowledge or your journey to enlightenment. The Minotaur was eventually killed by the Athenian solar hero, Theseus. The guesses about the Minotaur are that it originated in Minos, Crete. This is because in Crete the Minotaur was known as Asterion. The name in Crete is pointing the way to solving this Myth. Asterion simply means ‘starry’. So to the stars we go to translate this myth. Continue reading “Minotaur”

So many of myths and legends speak to us with truth and the mermaid is no exception. The mermaid in myths is a legendary aquatic creature with the head and upper body of a female human and the tail of a fish. Continue reading “Mermaids”

Trolls have become  popular these days to describe people who troll on the internet. The people who have to make sure that everyone knows their opinion. If they don’t like what your blogging or posting they will start arguments and post inflammatory comments about why you are wrong. If that doesn’t work they will attack you personally. They will say anything and do anything to make people think you and your information is crazy. That is putting it mildly. I think people started calling them trolls because of what we think the troll is, the ugly being that doesn’t fit into society. As you will see, trolls in mythology have been totally misunderstood.
